Experience The Mountains In A Whole New Way

What is a Via Ferrata?

In Italian it means “The Iron Way”. It is a ladder and cable system that ascends a mountain. Via Ferrata’s allow for easier and more secure access into the vertical world. Originally constructed in European mountains during the world wars, these cable and ladder systems quickly became a popular recreational activity to climb in the post war era. While they have been popular in Europe for decades, Via Ferrata’s are just now gaining traction in the United States. Here at KMAC Guides we are proud to offer two different Via Ferrata routes in Estes Park, CO. Book your Via Ferrata trip today to experience Estes Park from up high. Sweeping views of Rocky Mountain National Park and the thrill of the vertical world await you.

The Routes

Peregrine Ridge

This is our introductory Via Ferrata. Specifically designed to ease you into the vertical world, this route contains easy climbing and just the right amount of exposure. We recommend this route to groups with children or those with an exceptionally high fear of heights. On the Peregrine Ridge you will ascend 600 feet of cables, enjoy a mid-way viewpoint, and summit South Cathedral Mountain.

The Cloud Ladder

Colorado’s premier Via Ferrata. This route ascends the steepest section of Via Ferrata in the state and crosses two suspension bridges. On the Cloud Ladder we ascend 900 feet of cable, climbing up the vertical headwall of Deville Rocks to the summit of South Cathedral Mountain. Those looking for wild exposure and the climbing experience of a lifetime will find it here.
