Dates:

  • Any day we can get 3 or more riders to sign up. Please reach out and we can set up some dates!

We are often asked about ‘next steps,’ especially after finishing a level one course. We often recommend hiring a guide as one of the best next steps. This can seem daunting and prohibitively expensive, but it is probably the best cost-to-learning you can possibly get. We have turned our advanced backcountry tour day into an open enrollment group adventure to bring the cost down and maximize the learning. This is the idea behind our EduTour adventure.

Our goal on these days is to go find the best snow we possibly can while discussing how we will find it and how to minimize risk. We ask that students complete their Rec Level One and Rescue Course before they attend an EduTour day as will discuss concepts and ideas that are introduced there. We will build on those skills as we design a tour plan that is appropriate for the team and forecast then go and send it! As we search for the best snow in RMNP you will have all day to ask an expert as many questions as you can come up with! As we skin we will discuss terrain management, snow analysis, group dynamics, and lots more!

Who is this for? The EduTour is our advanced group touring day. Students should have several personal tours under their belts and have completed basic avalanche education courses. You should be able to skin 3,000+ feet of vertical with enough energy left over to shred. Skiers and splitboarders both welcome! You should be able to confidently ride steep terrain in powder conditions.

Location: We will meet at our office, 1230 Big Thompson Ave. Here we will complete our tour plan. We will next head into whatever part of RMNP has the best conditions and skin to the pow!

Duration: ~7 Hours (7:30am to around 3pm)

Experience Level: Intermediate/advanced. We recommend you can ride confidently all terrain at ski resorts and have a few backcountry tours this season. We are riding in Colorado in winter, so we won’t be getting gnar or sending risk exposed lines, but we will be looking for pow deep in the mountains and ask that you are experienced and fit enough to do it!  We ask that EduTour guests to have taken a Rec 1 and Rescue Course.

22/23 Weston Backcountry demo (skis & split setups avail.) for $45 per day (50% off our normal rate)!
