Magz has always felt most at home when immersed in nature. They have been climbing for fourteen years and working in the climbing industry for eight.
They grew up in the small town of Athens, GA and learned to climb as a kid at the local rock climbing gym. Quickly realizing their passion for the sport, Magz joined the youth team and spent most of their time developing their strength and movement for competition.
They befriended older southern legends who helped them develop traditional climbing and multipitch (and dirt bagging) skills. Climbing became their main pathway to achieve a meditative state, connect with their body, and connect with the world around them.
Magz worked setting routes and coaching a youth team while taking courses to develop their Rock Guiding Skills and pursuing Ecological knowledge. They are now an AMGA Apprentice Rock Guide and SPI and graduated from University of Georgia’s Odem School of Ecology.
Guiding for KMAC, Magz strives to share their love of rock climbing, ecology, and those experiences in the mountains that connect us to the earth.
