Our pre-teen camp is a great landing place for young climbers who are looking to learn a thing or two about applying their gym skills on real rock. Outdoor climbing experience is not required for this camp and all climbing ability levels are welcome. This camp will focus on building foundational skills to climbing outside, while fostering a safe space for climbers of all abilities to push themselves.
*Note that this is a shorter time frame than the rest of our camps with drop-off on Tuesday July 15 at 11:00 am and pick-up on Sunday July 20th at 11:00 am.
Target Groups → 9-12 year old athletes
Disciplines → sport, traditional, multi-pitch, bouldering
Pre-Reqs
- Gym climbing experience for ≥ 1 year
- Stoke to learn to climb outside
- 9 – 12 yrs
A sample itinerary is described below. The schedule can change due to weather, group skills, and other factors.
- Day 1: Students arrive at KMAC office at 11:00 am. Head to camp for orientation, equipment issue, lunch and a week overview.
- Day 2: Rope climbing at the Thumb and Needle of Prospect Mountain.
- Day 3: Bouldering in Endo Valley.
- Day 4: Jurassic Park rope climbing.
- Day 5: Bouldering at Wild Basin.
- Day 6: Breakfast. De-gear. Students depart KMAC 11:00 am
